Vehicle Licenses
Within 45 days of moving to South Carolina, you must register your vehicle with the South Carolina DMV. Within 90 days you must obtain a South Carolina Drivers license. Below is a step-by-step procedure, which will save you valuable time and frustration.
1. Pay Personal Property Tax for Each Vehicle:
Take your title or current registration to
the auditor's office in the county in which
you reside. They will figure out your tax
based on the assessed value of the vehicle.
If the vehicle has excessive high mileage,
you will want to take your odometer reading
with you.

Drivers Licenses
If you have a valid driver's license issued by the state from which you are moving, you can use it for 90 days. Then you must qualify for a South Carolina license by passing the vision portion of the driver's examination. Take your license and social security card ( or legal document showing your social security number) to one of the above offices.
